My neighbor, Salvador Alberto Ventura, died yesterday morning.
He had become a friend of mine over the last year. He invited me to his aunt's baby shower last weekend, where I got to meet his family and hang out with them all for a while.
He liked to drive fast and be in a car that went fast. It ran in his family; his brother is a professional racer and does very well at it.
Ironic. The vehicle he was riding in Sunday was speeding when it was hit by another. The SUV spun and went into a power pole, killing Salvador.
He could have gone either way. He was exceptionally smart but did poorly in school - just like I did. He had recently gotten into some trouble with the law, but it wasn't that serious and he certainly had the tools to do something with himself. He was exceptionally good looking and had girls constantly after him. He was usually quite outgoing and friendly and very, very helpful. He was a real nice guy and a good neighbor.

My camera system picks up Salvador crossing my driveway the day before he died.
You'll be missed, my friend.
